Together with Les Grignoux, we are presenting Christian Petzold\u2019s new film Miroirs No. 3<\/em>, which had its world premiere this year in the “Quinzaine des Cin\u00e9astes” section at the Cannes Film Festival, where it was met with great enthusiasm.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Christian Petzold is regarded as one of the most prominent auteur filmmakers of our time and is considered a co-founder of the so-called Berlin School<\/strong>. His work consistently explores themes such as identity, loss, memory, love, and death<\/strong>, and is characterized by a realistic yet strikingly stylized cinematic language.<\/p>\n

Following his acclaimed reinterpretation of the myth of Undine (Undine<\/em>, 2020) and the multiple award-winning relationship drama Afire<\/em> (Roter Himmel<\/em>, 2023), Petzold returns in Miroirs No. 3<\/em> to the theme of the loss of a child<\/strong>\u2014a subject he has already explored with unsettling precision in Wolfsburg<\/em> (2003) and Ghosts<\/em> (Gespenster<\/em>, 2005).<\/p>\n

\u201eLe r\u00e9alisateur allemand Christian Petzold (Barbara<\/em>, Le Ciel rouge<\/em>) propose un conte sur le deuil et la renaissance dont la grande subtilit\u00e9 formelle installe une ambiance \u00e9nigmatique qui fascine et s\u00e9duit fortement. Lors d\u2019un week-end \u00e0 la campagne, Laura, \u00e9tudiante \u00e0 Berlin, survit miraculeusement \u00e0 un accident de voiture. Physiquement \u00e9pargn\u00e9e mais profond\u00e9ment secou\u00e9e, elle est recueillie chez Betty, qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 t\u00e9moin de l\u2019accident et s\u2019occupe d\u2019elle avec affection. Peu \u00e0 peu, le mari et le fils de Betty surmontent leur r\u00e9ticence, et une qui\u00e9tude quasi familiale s\u2019installe. Mais bient\u00f4t, ils ne peuvent plus ignorer leur pass\u00e9, et Laura doit affronter sa propre vie.\u201c<\/p>\n
