In this adventure film set in the Alps, a young woman named Wally rejects an arranged marriage and retreats to the mountains where the vultures live. Hans Steinhoff, who also directed the propaganda film \u201cHitlerjunge Quex\u201d in 1933, bases the film on Wilhelmine von Hillern\u2019s successful novel \u201cDie Geierwally\u201d, which has been adapted for the screen several times. The accompanying newsreel dates from August 1941 and reflects German optimism at a time when the fighting on the Eastern Front still favoured Germany.<\/p>\n
