Little Emil has his bicycle stolen by a traveler wearing a bowler hat. Together with a gang of friends, he sets out to chase the crook, who turns out to be a dangerous bandit. Based on a screenplay by Billy Wilder, this is the most beautiful adaptation of this classic of German children’s literature.
