Marika Rökk, who travelled to occupied Belgium during the war, enjoyed enormous success with this film. Rökk plays twin sisters with acrobatic talents: the well-behaved Mara lives in the shadow of the seductive but spiteful Kora. This was Germany’s answer to the American musical.
The original supporting programme featured a propaganda film encouraging Belgians to work in Germany.
The screening will be preceded by a short bilingual video introduction by Roel Vande Winkel (LUCA/KU Leuven).
