Born in 1984 in Eupen, Belgium, Stephan Haas studied modern German literature, German philology and history in Aachen. He then began a teaching career while completing a further degree in business studies in Liège. Today he works in human resources at a large industrial company and lives with his wife and children in the German-speaking part of Belgium.

He has written three crime novels to date:

The somewhat idiosyncratic Inspector Piet Donker is transferred from Brussels to a small town in East Belgium. There he investigates a cold case reopened by new evidence, searches for a family that has vanished in the High Fens, and hunts down the murderer of a local politician.
