Together, we will visit the literary bookshop Worthaus, located in the Burtscheid district of Aachen. The bookshop has already received the German Bookshop Award (Deutscher Buchhandlungspreis) twice.

Its owner, Martin Hungenbach, and his team are keen connoisseurs of the independent German book scene. They will introduce us to unusual titles, lesser-known publishing houses and alternative literary awards. They will also explain how a small, committed bookshop can hold its own in today’s book market. All questions are welcome!

Afterwards, we will take a walk through the charming centre of Burtscheid, discovering the spa gardens, the hot springs and the Michaelsberg. There will also be an opportunity to enjoy coffee and cake in one of Aachen’s most popular cafés.

The outward journey will be by train, departing from Liège-Guillemins at 12:22 p.m. Please be on the platform by 12:10 p.m. The train will arrive at Aachen Central Station (Aachen Hbf) at 1:22 p.m.

The bookshop is approximately a 20-minute walk from the station, and the visit will begin there at 2 p.m.

Return travel arrangements will be discussed with the group, and participants will make their own way home. Travel and refreshment costs are to be covered by the participants.
